Congratulations to Clyde Daly, Jr. and Prof. Hernandez on their recent publication in the Journal of Physical Chemistry’s special issue on “Machine Learning in Physical Chemistry”.
They showed how neural nets can be used on small data sets to predict organismal viability subject to engineered nanoparticles given only a limited set of molecular scale properties. Their poetic title “Learning from the machine: Uncovering sustainable nanoparticle design rules” also emphasizes their long term goal to use these machines to gain insight beyond their predictions.
