The following are a set of rules and guidelines being set into place by the department in order to ensure the safety of our faculty, students and staff as Johns Hopkins begins to enter Phase 1 of reopening labs since the COVID-19 shutdown:

You will receive delivery confirmations for orders your lab has placed as you always have, stating that a package has been delivered to the stockroom. Those packages will now be stored in Remsen SB21 (the Dry Ice/LN2 room) and consolidated based on lab group. The packages will be available for pickup 24/7 BUT a pickup MUST BE SCHEDULED via OpenRequest Stockroom Package Pickup. Your lab should have one designated individual assigned to this duty. Please bring your own cart and pen, sign and date the packing slip, and place it in the bin provided. Please wipe down surfaces after leaving.

New Procedures- Packages Stored In SB21, Pickups Must Be Scheduled

Dry Ice and Liquid Nitrogen will be available 24/7, as they always have in Remsen SB21. However, LN2 and Dry ice must be paid for and a pick-up time must be scheduled BEFORE retrieving these supplies, via the Stockroom module of OpenRequest. There is no need to wait for the order status of these items to be marked “ready for pickup”. There will no longer be a spreadsheet and pen to note the amounts that have been taken. Please wipe down the surfaces after leaving.

New Procedures- LN2/Dry Ice In Remsen SB21 To Be Purchased In Advance Via Openrequest, Pickup Must Be Scheduled.

SPS Solvents and Liquid Nitrogen will be available 24/7, as they always have in NCB 124. However, those items  must also  be paid for and a pick-up time must be scheduled BEFORE retrieving these supplies, via the Stockroom module of OpenRequest. There is no need to wait for the order status of these items to be marked “ready for pickup”. There will no longer be a spreadsheet and pen to note the amounts that have been taken. Please wipe down the surfaces after leaving.

The same procedures apply for Drum Solvents in the Macaulay Hall Solvent locker.

Continue to place orders for items kept in the Stockroom inventory as you always have, via the Stockroom module of OpenRequest. When those orders are marked “ready for pick-up”, they will be moved to SB21 and consolidated with the rest of your labs’ orders and should be retrieved during your scheduled pick up time.

Masks and Gloves must be worn at all times.

There will be NO ACCESS to Remsen SB30.

Remsen SB21 will be monitored remotely 24/7 to ensure that all of these new procedures are being adhered to.

Ideally, you should try and coordinate the scheduled pick-up of orders and LN2/Dry ice times to coincide.
